Chevrolet is shaking things up in its iconic Corvette lineup. The American carmaker recently introduced the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray – and it boasts a mid-engine design. This is the first-ever production mid-engine Corvette ever produced by the brand, and it is set to bring better performance, luxury, and technology than ever before.
“Corvette has always represented the pinnacle of innovation and boundary pushing at GM,” said Mark Reuss, GM President. “The traditional front-engine vehicle reached its limits of performance, necessitating the new layout. In terms of comfort and fun, it still looks and feels like a Corvette, but it drives better than any other vehicle in Corvette history.”
With this new mid-engine layout, the 2020 Stingray offers superior weight distribution and responsiveness, giving you a better sense of control because the driver seat is closer to the front axle.
It also enables the 2020 model to achieve the fastest zero-to-60 time of any entry-level Corvette, accelerating to the mark in just under three seconds when equipped with the Z51 Performance Package. This engineering change also provides you a better view of the road since the hood is positioned lower on the frame.
The 2020 Corvette Stingray will also boast the most personalization options ever for a Corvette, including 12 available exterior colors, six interior color themes, six seat belt colors, and two optional stitch packages.
The 2020 Stingray is planned to enter production in late 2019 at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly plant, so it should hit roads soon after. If you’re as excited as we are to get behind the most advanced Corvette in the brand’s 60-plus year history, we can’t wait to see you right here at Copeland Chevrolet later this year.
